Current development of Kobold and Dragon


Hey, nice to see you! I've made an off-the-cuff decision to prepare and post you a devlog about the current development. 

A lot of different things happened since the very first prototype version. The prototype is currently in a barely playable state because a lot of successful experiments have been done. There are still some things to finish in a lot of the proof of concept experiments, so that they can actually be used in the game and also all these things need to be brought together to a funny package.

But now, I want to show you some of the stuff I have done since the prototype, so lets get started!

I really did a lot of research, back and forward development to get this result. My main goal was to have a authentic looking, but high performance white goo with also the possibility to collide with the character models. With this, I have the technique, now it just need to be cleaned up and tweaked (especially the cum shots).

p.s. I think a nice looking cum is very, very important in a sex game, that's why I will put a lot of time into this.

Basic Dragon Model

The name is Kobold and Dragon, but the Dragon is missing, so here is a small peek to the current dragon model I did. The textures are still completely work in progress. Also animations, tooth, eye textures, penis model etc. are missing. I hope you like it so far.

Improvements to Kobold

I wanted to finalize some things on the kobold. So he now can do proper expressions like you can see. Also I have added more Details to the model itself (especially for planned animations), which you might see in a later version of the game.

I have found out that I actually need to fix up the wrong scaling in the skeleton, that will probably break all existing animations. Chances are high that I'm going to have to reanimate the whole character. However, as the next animations are planned to be with the dragon, its okay.

Game Design and Attraction Minigame

Kobold and Dragon, at the end, is still supposed to be a game at its essence, not a just another sex animation simulator thingy. A lot of ideas have gone through my head how to make this game attractive, but fun to play at the same time, and going further, combine these 2 things in a good way to be funnier and more attractive.

I have seen several issues with the prototypes game design, which I want to approach in another way for future versions. Here are my thoughts: 

1. Avoid negative effects in the sex experience

Going out of condition in the Protoype feels like a punishment, rather than punish the player for doing mistakes in the game, he should be rewarded for playing better. So I will get rid of the condition itself and depending on how many "score" the player can reach, the quality of the orgasms will be higher (more cum, more essence, more aroused expressions). For score calculation, I want to approach a combination of a little bit player skill and primary game progression (character level, equipment etc.)

2. Make the game easier to understand

The game shouldn't feel more complicated than actually doing sex, if possible. Even if sex is a kind of complicated progress which has many factors, most people just do it and enjoy it. 

One of my goals is to have the characters being able to cum in certain and also unfamiliar scenarios, when the player do the right things at the right time and the character is skilled in a certain way (this comes from a personal favor). As an example: The Dragon being able to cum by being rubbed on the foot if the player skilled the foot to be an erogenous zone and the stats are skilled high enough to actually be sexual penetrated by just rubbing the foot.
I know making such things possible will make the game more complicated (that example already sounds complicated...), so I have to figure out how to reach that goal without confusing virgin players too much. 

3. No villain in a turn based game is a problem

This is certainly one of the things I wrapped around my head for a very very long time, even much longer before starting this game. I want to have this game turn based, as the player should be able to stay in an animation and enjoy it as long as desired. But I could not find an actually funny long term game idea for a turn based approach without an actual counterpart. That counterpart could have been the dragon, if you play the kobold (or vise versa), but the both actually suppose to have sex together, not against each other. Especially in the Prototype, where the Condition is kind of the villain, it felt very repetitive at the end because the situations will stay the same and the player can behave in the same way over and over again to get the same rewards.
I want to spice things a little bit up by putting the player into different situations, which need to be handled differently to get the same result quality. Also I want to combine this in a reasonable way with different sex scenarios, so that the player for example might get a high quality orgasm out of the characters when doing a handjob scenario with one behavior, but only getting a medium quality orgasm when doing a blowshop scenario with the same behavior.

Solution

This is where my idea of different, easy to understand, minigames jumps in. With this, I think all the mentioned issues can be solved. 
The idea roughly explained:
Instead of loosing condition, a turn (trigger an animation) will start a minigame and cost some action points. Depending on how good the player was in the minigame, hearts will be rewarded which will result in a more intense orgasms when finishing the scenario. If the player manages to get enough hearts from a minigame, it might even penetrate the characters to a direct orgasm. The higher the character stats are, the easier the minigames becomes, so there will be more difficult minigames later which will grant more hearts or different kind of hearts to penetrate the characters under certain circumstances, but this is for later then.

Jeah well, that's it from me. I will continue work on the game. Next thing will most likely be finishing up the dragon, so that I can animate the first real scenario.

I love the feral dragon, as well as the other dragon, and the stuffs you mention, keep on doing what you do best for this game with making it as better as possible, taking breaks every now and then to not exhaust your energy and sleep every now and then as well as hunger and thirst.
